The Prius uses 12v to operate everything on the Prius except the traction motors and the inverter when you push the live button if everything is go it engages 2 12v activated solenoids in end of battery pack to close the gap from large battery to inverter this way when it is sitting with ign off all the high voltage is in the metal battery pack ,if I have a battery pack down in one that has been sitting for some time I have built a set of jumpers to go to high voltage pack ,it is like dynamite going off if you get + and - inverted thought I was dead .
