Ole! The 12VDC automotive bust was standardized globally back in the late 50s.  Too many common 12V components exist, so the 12VDC bust will stay! There are many proprietary main prime mover power plants that operate at high voltages!  Example! Prius.   HV, 3 phase PM motor.
