Here in Belarus everything made of concrete...they have great tools like these high density styrofoam float/smoothing  hand tools ...the Styrofoam very strong and very light so cut out some discs, then machined down spun with drilll scraping to shape with knife and sandpaper to a come shape.
Magnets imbedded are from cabinet latches.

Meant to write cone shape...moving hall effect will have greater pulsewidth at smalll diameter part of cone,  much narrower pulse width at larger diameter.
So that is idea here and pulse width easy to adjust while it's spinning.
Could also be used in "rotating invertor" and be able to adjust pulse width while it's making AC
For this spin at 1800rpm  have only two magnets at 180 degrees,  then two hall effects at 90 degrees to one another
 hall A  sends current one way hall B the other way as they trip mosfets
1800 rpm will give you 60 Hz if you want that as example

Hi DougIt sounds like I would fit right in.Styrofoam is a great material.I made a hot wire cutter that sort of looks like a band saw, and another like an old-fashioned bow saw.I put a variac on my 220 volt Lincoln arc welder and plug it into 120 volts ac, so instead of 50 volts it is about 5 volts, with tons of amperage.All one needs to do is just keep the wire, soldering iron hot.A string of light bulbs in series would work too.Sounds like you are having funRemember Styrofoam can be epoxied and glassed to be crazy light and strong like Bert Rutan's canard wing Veryeasy airplanes.Cheers Warren
