He's just proving that we live inside a huge lens made from the atmosphere. The lens deflects the light to look like coming from another angle. Without this atmospheric lens the sun and the stars looks smaller.

Sun rays are like a trillion combined lasers of each observable wavelength so when I see shafts of light penetrating cloud gaps, not parallel to each other it freeks me out, so is it really refraction?
