Hector, I loved working with the mechanical adjustable "Mouse Trap" buzzers which easily gave the "Neutral Spike energy! I agree that "solid state devices" do not survive the EMP like pulse of a Neutral Spike! The numerous experiments with the 5 ton A/C compressor (Locked Rotor) single phase 230VAC used mechanical 2 pole contactor (long throw) and a mechanical overload current relay to drop out contactor at "locked rotor current draw" 82 amps which gave a totall stator/rotor super saturation of iron. At this "super saturated" condition, the 40 mfd start capacitor & 5 mfd run capacitor (both energized in circuit) discharged back through windings at instant that magnetic flux decay happened. A very loud bamg signaled a huge earth ground "Spike" from the motor iron and frame ground. Really interesting "effect"! "Easily replicated for anyone who wants to try it at considerable power. 230 VAC @ 82 amps initiates sequence! "Piece of cake"! No fancy electronics involved here, just simple mechanical components! ok ok, we start again at the coilbanger. Of course, switching the rewind diode on and off is an option to see what happens. I always thought you can make any inductor deliver that energy. I still have the circuit. An indication at which inductance we have to look at high impedance ignites the xenon tube only weakly. What performance does the xenon tube have at least? What kind of diode would you use or which power class and if it has to be very fast? the resistance of the xenon tube is alike in a thyratron , that is why i call xenon tubes the poor mans thyratron ... anyway you can use a lone scr but is more susceptible at destruction by EMP on the diode 1kv and as fast as i can get with the lowest internal resistance ... an over-unity coil is attained as s saturation point in joules AVS ampere volt seconds for maximal magnetic tensor .. maximal current at N volts P then collapse of field in Ampere volt seconds were time volts and ampere feed into a captive accumulator were ambient temperature & electron noise transduces to electron potential within the collapse charge, stochastic resonance applies , electron EASER also applies .. the tendency of this to happen enhanced is in using low magnetic Remanence hi saturation metal cores ( iron thunderbolt ) i have stated MU metal is one item ( speaker magnet metal end caps ) as other sources are $1000 per pound of the stuff if you test them you will see they don't retain any magnetic field and have an extremely hi magnetic saturation point else the speakers fry in no time ! other is transformers coils and cores ....
