A device that can detect energy (that is not electric nor magnetism  nor psychic energy too)) can be build by observing their effect on liquid or gas. The energy would change at least the critical temperature for evaporation, solidification, condensing, etc. It also change cohesion and adhesion property, things will cling to one another better or worse.

A faster test would be something like lab test of cohesion / adhesion property. tubes with various size with water in it.

Another type is bunsen burner, where we measure the the fire length.

we can find the polarity too, based on their effect. 

We can use it to detect "electro sauna" property of tesla coils, bedini wheel, and many other device. So we know if the device is a blessing or a curse.
