OleSo those WEG 480 volt three phase motors could then be used as generators, if I employed the proper capacitance to the proper wires?That is wonderful news to me! I suspected it might be possible, but did not know for sure, until you have told me this.How does one normally wire them up, and where might one supplement the residual magnetism, with, I guess, a jolt of DC current?I happen to have two identical 480 volt WEG 480 volt motors, which have been modified slightly for Rotoverters( bearings, on one, fans on both)This experiment on video, seems to demonstrate a higher output out of the Rotoverter than I have , so far, been able to achieve.Up to now, it has been only 1.614 times the input, while others have achieved 1.618.This has proven, over the years, to be entirely reliable, and repeatable, and by including tricks with Rene charger, and battery, a little higher performance on top of that.Now this method, exploiting the shaft torque to drive yet another RV as a generator is a new development which looks super easy to perform, given that both my motors have pulleys, and I have plenty of belts, and slabs of wood to bolt them to.I also have two identical, oil filled capacitor tuning boxes with switches, already made up.Where does it make sense to hook everything up, to best replicate what is being done in this video, in your opinion?Cheers Warren

Induction motors are both motor and generator in one device. The capacitive loading by the capacitor makes it a generator without attachment to the grid. It just needs a little remanent magnetism to build up the field.

I wonder what power he is measuring. If it is active power then to what load does the power go? It looks like it's the apparent power (VA) that is shown. The power meter is able to measure the phase shift as cos phi (cosine to the phase angle between the voltage and current) for a limited range according to the manual: https://produktinfo.conrad.com/datenblaetter/125000-149999/125333-an-01-ml-BASETECH_COSTCONTROL_3000_ENERG_de_en_nl.pdf. If he showed the cos phi measurement we could calculate the active power being used.
It looks like the motor to the right is driven by the motor to the left through the belts. The driven motor to the right is loaded at a single phase by the capacitor. This is a pure reactive load except for the heating of the wires.
The motor to the left is not wired exactly as Hector's RV.
