 The copper sphere method is a large sphere for experimenting with different coil angles where you get the interaction very fast to see how it works. You can set up only three coils to show how the phasing works to recover the full square wave of the field rotations. Two in parallel and one at 90 degrees.
 

 Then think "copper atom" and fields inside the wire which are all also spherical rotation fields. There is no particular geometry you have to hold to other then the 90 degree angular crossing of the wires. Floyd Sweets final coils were wrapped around cubes as I recall.
 

 The TPU demo simply passes the feed wire back through the coils center.
 This will generate one spike per cycle. These guys found the 5 Mhz  at 1/4 wavelength that can explode the wires as I recall. Coppers natural shock wave vibration rate.
 

 They had no clue this field can be resonated in space at that time.
