How would one wind "90 degree coils"?
All I can think of is perhaps a torroid type coil wound around a ferrite tube core, then on top of that, a regular "solenoid" type of coil, that completely covers over the winds of the torroid.
Perhaps alternating nd layers of torroid and solenoid style winds? such as one torroid, then one solenoid, then one torroid then one solenoid etc.
Maybe 90 degree means aTshaped core, or a cross shaped core and winds over them (solenoid style) now the fields would knock into each other at 90 degrees.
I would experiment about 18 years ago with what I called "splatter" coils, (your post made me remember about this) these are to have first N N bucking, and exact matching coils, then energize them in DC pulses,
Maybe 2mm airgap between the bucking coils.
Now cluster more and more splatter coils that all point right at that airgap,... I liked to cluster about 10 together....they all don't need to be 90 degrees right next to the airgap, but those will capture the most "escapoing flux" energy. Maybe have some clusters at 45 degrees pointing at airgap above and below the 90 degree ones..
The bucking NN coils I would guess has compressed the colliding flux first, before it escaping out the sides of the airgap. If it is compressed , there should be a sort of pogo stick spring loading to it, so it accelerates the speed of the flux shooting out the sides.
So anyways go ahead and ring the entire airgap all the way around 360 degrees with these splatter coils, It is completely non-reflective to the amount of power that is pulsing the two "primary coils" bucking each other N N so that is good thing, and all you can catch is a gain in power using this normally wasted flux energy.
I got this idea from a machinist/guitarplayer friend (also jammed with my band the Fuckedtones a lot in the 90s) who built a looping motor generator that eventually powered a cabin in California, this back in hippy days around1969...story goes from my machinist friend Dave,they were building exact copies of kalishnikov machine guns for the US army to do various murders and assasinations, then blame it on the viet cong..(Phoenix cia project) so they needed these guns and Dave had a job machining parts for them. Kalishinikov himself was overseeing the project Dave said.
As side project, they got a hold of some rare earth magnets, and wound up three coils on a rotor at 120 degrees, had two stator rare earth magnets at 180 degrees, and pulsed the coils using a curved-shaped gold commutator, and roller that would hit it, and roll on top of it, sending in power to the rotor coils.
They mounted on big clamshells (just because of their shape) clusters of "splatter" coils, and used for the cores pencil leads (poisonous type they don't make anymore) It could of been thin ferrite, but he said it was pencil leads.....they had some hippy girls there, they had the job to wind all the coils over the pencil leads....seems like the pencil lead cores about as long as a pencil too...anyways they stuck a diode on each long thin coil, ran it back into the motoring coils it looped and powered a cabin until Kalishnikov got wind of it and took it away was end of story...
he told me pencil leads were thicker closer to the airgap, and thinner and more of them too, further away which is interesting. Also very interesting if you stuck a piece of glass between the bucking coils, sprinkle some iron dust on it, there will be a specific pattern to what look like "dots" that surround the coils. This is the flux pattern of sort of magnetic flux "ropes" (cut through with the glass) that extend out and back to rear of coil...This pattern of dots is how they positioned exactly the pencil lead splatter coils in the clamshells....
