Analysis of the output part of the circuit
When activating SW1 the discharge tube U1 fires and discharges the capacitor C3 into the coil L. The voltage across the then parallel L-C3 tank then declines in a sine curve way from its peak value. The current in the tank increases as a sine curve starting from zero. When the voltage crosses zero the discharge tube turns off and the current has then reached its peak level. As the current is turned off the voltage flies back going negative as the coil turns into a source discharging its stored energy. The current then declines in a sinusoidal way from its peak value while the flyback voltage also goes negative as a sine curve reaching its negative peak value when the current passes zero. But the negative going spike either will reach the reverse breakdown voltage of the diode across the discharge tube or the breakdown voltage of the tube itself. This will again complete the circuit of the L-C3 tank which charges C3 in the reverse direction. When C3 has reached its negative peak voltage as the current passes zero it then starts discharging through the diode in the diode's forward conduction direction with the current then being negative. As the current reaches its negative peak the voltage across the tank passes zero and again starts to charge the capacitor to a positive value. The current then declines towards zero from its negative value at which the voltage reaches its positive peak value.
If there is free energy from the circuit the voltage across the capacitor after this completed cycle must be greater than the initial voltage of the cycle. The big question then is which component(s) is/are delivering the excess energy? The discharge tube and the diode as well as the LC-tank are probably all critical components. Also the wires of this part of the circuit could be critical. The negative flyback spike could be destructive as it reaches the breakdown voltage of something if the coil doesn't have enough parasitic capacitance to limit any breakdown of the other components. If it is the diode that goes into avalanche breakdown this could happen very fast like in nanoseconds. Be careful if trying to measure such spikes as the instruments could be damaged even before registering the event. If the diode breaks down at 1kV the device measuring this must be able to handle this voltage even if it isn't fast enough to actually see such a spike. The voltage could even be transformed up or down by loops formed. This is very radiant energy.

I am not disputing that you got it to go, but you present it more as a puzzle to be solved, which I suppose, no doubt, it really, and truly is, in some senses, but nuts, and bolts, hands on advice, are in short supply.
The concept needs to be generally known, and it needs to be in many hands, so it gets generally adopted.

In my own experience, I have found one rarely gets fame, and fortune, as a combined package.

You need perfect fool proof instructions, that are tested with several groups of school kids, and found to work.
This is a project.
It is totally worth doing.
It is work.
It will cost money to supply the little baggies of parts.
You have make one and show it to science teachers or "shop" teachers (if they even have such things now.)
Failing this method, you hire a marketing research firm, and this is what they will do, when contracted by the advertising agency, you have also hired.
Ka-ching,ka-ching! Then packaging, then bundling it with other "science" toys.
Yes, you can make a shit load of money, eventually.
Is that exactly what you wish to do, and need now in your life, because it is a job, and a full time one at that?
It is your choice, but getting this flailing group of geeks to actually make a coil banger work is not a bad idea.
If enough of us get them happening, with some success, the general honesty, and interest of the group will help refine the idea in ways none of us might expect.
There is no dispute that you are the author.
Now you have to make it work!
To do that it needs to be replicated with success.
Your fame will be earned.
It takes, time, work, and energy, to make money, and sometimes you don't.
