Hairpin is the same as the impedance load in a ground plane allowing for
transmission power, simple Rf engineering.  The plasma input power
reduction is a classic negative resistor similar to neon tubes etc.  Yes
there is more to see with negative resistance/impedance in respect to
power harvesting.

Good analogy with copper and aluminum.  I believe it was Tesla who
called aluminum a reflector of electricity which adds an interesting
point to your theory of it performing as an aether sink.

Radiant is likely the etymological  origin to the word radio, now we say
RF for radio frequency.  An Av plug is a matched rectenna
