RonSon of a gun!What the hell is going on?I even ran an identical RV off that capacitor circuit without a transformer. Both ran fine!There is something wrong that you are doing. I am not sure what it is.I find it frustrating that your RV is not working yet.The last time I fired mine up was in the dead of winter. Okay, the grease was cold, but it still worked!It used a lot more than .4 amps as I had to turn on more cap switches on my tuner box, but it was predictable, and reliable, even given those horrid temperature conditions, and laying about in cold storage, in a barn.You have done something wrong, or your motor is a dud for this.There is no faith in Hector, as a messiah, but the pragmatic result of his discovery, does work.Now, that damn strobe light device!Try as I have, I have not been able to get it to do that same kind of magic.....yet.Dave's device is the one on tap, at this time.The perfect ground is there.The Variac is readyThe exact wire has been cutThe bridge rectifierThe two diodesThree 40 watt light bulbs, in parallelA suitable Philip's screw driver...(stupid Philip's screw drivers, anyway, useless pieces of shit, when Robert's square type invented in Peterborough, Canada, are simply, way, better!) And two "clips", alligator type, I presume?Then there is that f**king light dimmer! I went to my local Canadian Tire. They had every kind of dimmer up the yin yang, except the cheap knob type. I checked all the dimmers in my house, and found the one in the front hall was the exact kind....except the damn knob had been coming off, and my wife had complained about it to me.Duh, smart lad that I am, I crazy glued the sucker on. It is ganged on a plate with a whole bunch of other switches, and to change it becomes a whole project rife with domestic discord, not worth it , even for science! So I am off on a shopping expedition to Canadian Tire's competition, Home Hardware, for a "cheap" (Leviton dimmer) with a knob, even if it only works for three times, I will be a happy chappy.Cheers Warren

Warren, it was your circuit with the transformer in series that I tried. No transformer that I had in stock did anything but kill the RV. And yes, this was with the shorting switch and let it get up to speed first. Bin dare, dun dat.
