Hi MerLynn,

"How can you even ask such a question and then proceed to answer it without ever doing the experiment..???"
If doing proper science such questions must be asked. The answer to the question could enlighten to check if your conclusion is right. Your way of doing science looks more like the way the flat earth society is doing science.

By cutting open the can and inspecting its inside it would be possible to check for burn marks and thus possibilities of damaging the seal. Did you do that before making your conclusion?

On Netflix there is a documentary on Flat Earthers that actually do a scientific experiment to prove once and for all that the Earth is flat. The documentary stop quite abruptly as the experiment doesn't show their theory to hold true! https://metro.co.uk/2019/02/27/flat-earthers-accidentally-prove-earth-round-netflix-documentary-8772206/ https://metro.co.uk/2019/02/27/flat-earthers-accidentally-prove-earth-round-netflix-documentary-8772206/. Do proper science for the truth to come forth.

Go to your car, pull the spark plug lead and then touch the strut anywhere you like...

Debunking without ever experimenting will NEVER UPWISE any student or inquisitive mind.

 Hypotheticals like the following.....
"How do you know that the gas hasn't escaped to the opposite side of the piston? Which way does the current run through the strut? If passing between the piston and the pressure tube it may burn through its sealing to let the gas through. Gas pistons have high pressure in them. Thus the slightest hole will let through the gas molecules. The plasma of an electric arc is hot enough to evaporate any metal."

 only leads to further stupidity.

Doing the experiment leads to wisdom and understandings.
