Hi MickIt is a Troybilt 2.6 kw 120 240 volt attachment for a roto tiller garden implement to provide electricity from from your garden machine.I got it brand new old stock, fitted it with a hydraulic motor back around 1990 and found though it ran just fine off my John Deere 85 hp diesel, it was not one of my more clever ideas, even though I have a whole hydraulic system in the engine room. Nobody likes to hear diesel engine in paradise, on a quiet night, across the water , just droning away making electricity. What was I thinking? The voice of inexperience shouting down good reason, yet again. So hot on the Samsung drive motor magic, I dug it out of my hoard of machinery, only to find I had removed the voltage regulator along with the gauges and sockets to put the on the main electrical panel, which has been altered plenty since then.I ordered and got a generic AvrApart from the two brush wires, I still have four wires to deal with.I see the association with Kohler on the plate suggesting, since they actually make generators, it may have been just supplied to the Garden implement company to be relabeled. It ran from a power take off to the rotor tiller engine so it had two bearings and is a stand alone generator head.It just seems to be perfect for mounting the Samsung motor to.I just need to get this generator tested and running, so I know it works with this regulator. On close inspection there are numbers on the black wires, but they don,t mean anything to me.Cheers Warren

What I would do:
Determine the circuit, what it does such as in a car the VR would allow power to the exciter coils when the battery drops below a certain voltage and turn off when over a voltage. SO I would put the regulator on the bench and feed it 10 or 14 volts and see what happens where.
Hard to say without seeing the genset what type it is or it's functions but likely something of the above. So how to mimic the circuit and then which wires would analyze the voltage and which path would the electricity take through the "relay"

Hi guys
Does anybody have experience with small gas engine generator voltage regulators?
I have a 2.6 kw 240 / 120 volt 60hz generator that needs a voltage regulator. I bought one, LiHua from China It has two wires that I know go to the brushes. Then there is another connector. It has four wires in it. Two yellow, a brown, and a green. In a video, they just show you connect the connectors. My generator has no connectors just wires, all black. What would you do? Cheers Warren
