Tom Bearden told me  about a copy of this book that was in a Boston book 
store and I bought it for $450, signed copy by the author, Cyril Davson, 
1955.

Schappeller's device is based on creating a sun inside a sphere 
according to how nature forms a sun. The Star in a Jar is like a 
mini-sun in a bubble which uses sound waves of sufficient intensity.

What sets Schappeller's device apart from Sonoluminescence, is there are 
no input energy requirements in Schappeller's device because it's using 
the permenant static electric field of the electret to bring the core to 
the glowing state, instead of using an input energy to generate the 
sound waves in Sonoluminescence. Even if Schappeller's device is brought 
to the glowing state without fusion as seen by Sonoluminescence, it will 
still produce more output energy than input energy, because the input 
energy requirements is 0. Another difference between the two is, 
Schappeller's device is based on using the primary state of matter, 
while Sonoluminescence is based on using the secondary states of matter.

IMO, Schappeller's device is the real deal.
