James, don't  be too fast to say no one attempted to use this strange 
power. Just not converting into useful power.  Well, the story I will 
tell regarding the Art of Dowsing and my personal involvement is quite a 
bizarre tale to say the least.  To set the stage for this absolutely 
true story as I lived it is as follows.

Our Super Steam Technology Group led by Leonard Dorsett (RIP) did a 
presentation for our friends over in England, about 20 of us including

I may be one of the few who is still alive from this group who remembers 
the WHOLE STORY.  I will refrain from naming names in this piece for the 
information is rather sensitive and unfortunately some have died as a 
result of the nature of the subject.  While working with the Super Steam 
Project back in the early 90s, our group had a very diverse bunch of 
guys, all hard working engineers, machinist, rube Goldberg designers and 
builders. After Slim spent some time with our guys and the Dowsing 
subject was being explored, we all got a pleasant surprise for one of 
our group issued an invitation to me to  examine a rather unusual device 
that worked on the dowsing principle.  About a dozen of use gathered on 
a back yard patio in a rather hush, hush, sort of top secret meeting. A 
long object wrapped in an old blanket was brought out with a big box and 
a large tripod.  The story goes, Electronics Engineer at Texas 
Instruments recently deceased under strange circumstances. He had single 
handed developed a super advanced dowsing system based on a witness 
sample  of an element in an elaborate 6 stage electronic configuration 
using phase conjugate longitudinal waves transmitted and a return signal 
receiver sensor.  When we unwrapped the unit and assembled it on the big 
tripod, it had a large compass rose which you laid out orientated to 
true North. There was an inclineometer to accurately measure angle of 
declination of projected signal into the ground.   With an azimuth and 
incline angle, a return signal hit of the witness element in the sample 
box gave one coordinate.  Pick up the whole device and move it a 
thousand yards and repeat the process to get a fairly accurate location 
and depth of the subject matter you were searching for. It would find 
anything which matched the sample placed in the transmitter sample box.  
Everything was documented in the builders hand writing with schematics 
and full diagram explanation of how the device worked.  When the 
Engineer wanted to apply for a Patent on his device, Texas Instruments 
said HELL NO.  A legal battle ensued and suddenly the Engineer died of 
strange causes. All his friends were shocked over his death.  A few 
months passed and the widow was clearing out the house to sell it when 
our guys were helping her move.  In the attic they found the treasure 
trove of his prototype hand built device with all hand written 
documentation.  Since it worked exactly how Slims Dowsing tools worked, 
witness sample will get hits from a like substance at a distance and 
even in the ground.  This unit was on steroids for it had 6 stages of 
very sensitive amplification of transmitted signals and receiver 
info.     We studied the device and it became known to our investor 
friends over in England. Since Lady Diana Foundation was trying to 
locate Soviet Plastic Mines, we were asked if it could find non-metallic 
objects. which it could.  A large meeting was held in a Hotel on I-635, 
Dallas to which a congregation from Lady Diana's Foundation was present 
in numbers. A full presentation of the device was made with a research 
budget proposed for it's possible use in the Foundation Program.    I 
was involved as a pure technical consultant. Joel and I got heavily into 
the MRA Project so I lost track of any outcome from the meetings and 
proposal.    I do not remember if Jon Gentry or Rick Sheppard did the 
video of the meeting.

A simple note on Dowsing, If you want to find water, The use of a very 
freshly cut willow fork branch will find water based on your personal 
sensitivity cause it has very pure water in it's sap. Some people have 
an innate ability to dowse and others do not. The ART is thousands of 
years old so take it as you may.   Norm
