Warren, this is one point that all coiler totally ignore.  D.C. Cox and 
I were discussing Tesla's approach to the wireless transmission of power 
and the fact that large ground currents exist when the Tesla coil is 
properly tuned (No extraneous discharges from elevated terminal 
capacitance) and a deep firm earth ground is present.  He said he tried 
to use some ZIP cord to provide an earth ground to a running coil. The 
ZIP cord went up in smoke.  Ha! Ha!. You have to use a good size copper 
cable to bond to earth ground.   Remember that a step-up transformer is 
also a step down transformer and the induction in reverse back into the 
primary has considerable power that is going into the ground. Now you 
can keep your shop warm.  Lol
