DougThat is a heart break.I think the pilot knew the bird was going down, and was avoiding the grand stand, and people on shore, as much as he had control to do so.It is gross that it was allowed to fly, leaking hydraulic fluid like that.I know from my machinery, how powerless one gets, when the hydraulic fluid, runs out.I have no idea what the hydraulics were controlling, on that plane, but at slow speeds, everything matters, to prevent a stall.It didn't even float for a moment.It was like a concrete block. Yes I was shocked at the condition the big old jet bird was in I walked right under it, hydraulic fluid dripping everywhere I was hoping they were not going to try and fly the thing at least anywhere near spectators...I wanted to talk to someone about it but no one was around to complain to.
I was hoping it was here to be put in museum as there are some great flight museums in Seattle where yout can see the SR 71, ww2 and ww1 fighters andbombers there is a volunteer group who give rides in restoredtboeing B17s during the summer few times a week you can hear them coming miles away
