Do you remember in High School Chemistry class when you applied heat to
mercuric oxide in a closed retort the condensate was liquid mercury.  I
guess the low level heat in a boarded up mercury mine in the NM desert
was enough to make the mercury pools over many years.  You can Google
the location of the old mines down in NM. Actually there are old mines
in many states with California being the most populated. see:

I built a RF plasma system using a 5KW RF power supply which I got from Texas Instruemnts salvage sales.http://www.comdel.com/high-frequency-rf-power-supplies Made the higher fullerines and Bucky fibers. Nick went on an expedition down into the South West New Mexico to the old abandoned mercury mines, Mercury, NM, which produced mercury needed for the WWII was effort. A full day trek via 4 wheelers with a Mexican guide brought them to an old mine. When walking inside of mine, Nick asked the Mexican why it felt like they were walking on a water bed?? The Mexican said , brush the dust off and see that you are walking on a pool of mercury. At the time mercury was selling for $26/# so it would have taken a big 4 wheel drive vehicle to go out and retrieve enough mercury to make it worth while to explore. Lots of mercury that the Environmental people frown on.
