James the event could in fact create nuclear changes or transmutation
events.  Many of the events happen in space where there are not too many
elements around to produce such amounts of energy, so the energy may not
be derived from though the transmutation could be a result of the energy
too early to say.

Same as sending E field communications through space, what medium are
they using to travel if there are no elements in order to vibrate
electrons.  Call it the Aether, truth is we don't know.

I have radiation detectors but should procure a neutron counter to be on
the safer side. As Ole mentioned one can never be too careful being
sapiens low ability for awareness of spectrum, ionizing or not.
