My opinion, likely you have already thought of this and agree.

Sparky's device appears to be a conditioned magnet made of an insulator
so electrons don't get in the way.  He slammed these magnets until there
were micro-fractures and the domains could act independently of one
another rather than in concert as in a conventional magnet that has not
been positive and negative magnetized almost to death.  Accordingly he
was able to coax this event into a continuous less intense presentation.

There was an AC sine in addition to the wrenching +-+-+- and as we know
sine AC is used to demagnetize!   When the plus minus shots are synched
with the sine at top dead center somehow the magnet become conditioned
to switch the domains at this frequency and create these annihilations
in micro instead of macro.
Likeley it is creating an electron void so that they want to rush in and
fill the hole and this is why it is important the material not be a
conductor of electrons.
