JamesThings are getting colder here, strangely early this year. No lack of rain, or snow now. It is going down to -18C tomorrow in a flash drop, over a few hours. There will also be rather high winds too.Today I went into town to the dock where the schooner is, and drained all the water from the raw water side of the engine, toilet and fresh water tank, shut off the sea cocks and filled the system with antifreeze. Here, I have the stone workshop building, with doors and windows  all installed, just now, heating it with a quartz lamp, until Mike arrives with the glycol fluid, this weekend.
We have to hook up the 3# cable in the house cellar panel to the grid, to carry the 100 amps, to run the workshop, and heat pump, to heat the floor, from the wickedly cold outside air with the glycol through the pipes inside the floor. The house is well heated downstairs, with propane, and not so well with electric baseboards upstairs. Should the power go off, which it did, several times last winter, there is no heat, a situation my wife is not happy about, and has left it up to me to have it solved this year.It is another case of the shoemaker's children having to go barefoot, or the Mechanic's car failing, due to lack of service.I have stalled buying a stand by generator, but now it looks like I have to bite the bullet, and buy an electric start generator, that can run this place until the power gets restored. I had really hoped that we might have been able to get a power source sooner, but Winter has hit us seriously early, and there is no time to make one, and do everything else that must be done.I bought a self propelled snow blower for $40, that has a flat tire, and four vee belts that need changing. The electric start engine runs perfectly. With four barns,  and three garages, I want to drag it into the kitchen, because it is so damn cold out there to work on nuts and bolts, with bare hands. As usual, I am almost a day late, and a dollar short, in my emergency preparations. My optimistic plans for the day, got eaten up by winterizing the boat. My Bedini wheel still sits in the corner of an unheated garage, with a leaky roof, ok, but out of service.Last winter, the snow didn't come until Christmas, but stayed until April. In Toronto, they have barely had frost on the grass, so far.Already the pine planks, fresh, from the saw mill, are freezing together, before we can get them in place.Fortunately they are separated in the stack, layer by layer with "stickers", light battens that let air flow around them. This is more an account of the lack of energy, around here.Men in black might come knocking on the door, frost bitten , and very sorry for themselves, to have landed such a lousy gig, their car in the snow bank, and needing the excavator to tow them out, sheepishly warming their hands on a cup of hot chocolate.I have worked on too many movies!Cheers WarrenSent from Yahoo Mail on Android

Well it's just a conundrum to me on one vid he and Rick were very excited about it like trying to correct an  oversite on there part .they didn't say it wouldn't work they just said it should be there and you get 30% more out of it by being connected to the earth .I was going Thu the stuff on the web a some have it some don't . so there we are stuck in low die again .I'm going to see if I can find Rick .

There was no earth ground on my Bedini Wheel, just big deep cycle 6 volt golf cart batteries, a load and a lawn mower battery driving it.Sometimes more than ten 225 amp batteries in parallel (and series, as they were 12 volt coupled in pairs)Today, I am trying to move some of that stuff from a leaky shed to a nice dry barn, along with a 4'X8' cnc panasonic XY table, which I might now have room to finally set up in a permanent location,  with a laser head. First though, is to get the delicate screw drives, cast iron dove tails and gear heads out of the drippy roof area of the shed, as it is only covered with plastic sheeting, to protect it. The squaller of moving! The bonus of space! Plenty of work here. The Bedini wheel is mounted on a four foot 3/8" plexiglas disk for mounting all the coils around the wheel, which is a tubular stainless steel big yacht wheel, turning in precision skate board bearings, with a power take off shaft for future experiments with mechanical indexing. It has been stored in a rather dry corner, and seems like it hasn't been hurt too much by the move. It will be good to get all the energy stuff together in one place, more, or less, after almost a year of chaos. Many of the out buildings don't have electricity yet, as I have been trying to get roofs, walls, and foundations on the big building, and a heated floor in my stone workshop building, which should soon be working, this weekend.Just using a quartz lamp, it has been above freezing in there on the retained heat and urethane foam insulated roof! It was -16C one night last week outside. The CNC setup won't be heated, but at least it will be dry.Are you in the city, or in the country where you are?Cheers Warren

Warren where did you put your earth ground on your Bedini wheel ..I've been looking at his diagrams and theres a lack of consistency in showing the earth grounds mixing chassis ground symbles and earth ground symbols and he said it was important giving 30% more charging power .most of his work doesn't show it . just thought you might know .if ask him but he went and died .

MickUrethane works well with carbon fibers, can be ,like Doug is doing, encased in epoxy, or like I used to do years ago, mix aluminium powder in with it.The Very Easy home built was styrofoam encased in epoxy resin and glass, but would be even lighter using carbon fibers. These are generally nice materials to work with, as the epoxy is not very stinky, like polyester, and won't eat the styrofoam. Did you know that the padded dash in your car might be self skinning urethane, appearing to be a soft vinyl, but actually soft urethane rubber, with a spongy foam interior. Tooling is quite cheap for urethane production work, and I could even turn out widgits in my studio, like soft, light weight link chain, suitable for zombies to have fights with bashing each other. Or swords, crossbows and the ilk, so people could fall off their horses on them( I could have used something soft to land on, myself, falling off old Snoopy at 30 miles an hour, in New Zealand!)Anyway, we shouldn't have problems with materials, it is the configuration, and like that rumored
Sail boat electrical generator system, or Zilano's farm supply, we have some serious reverse engineering, that we are called upon to deliver, not discounting a host of other fairly good devices. Now that Rosemary Ainslie is sticking up for herself against the nasty trolls, a lot of replications have come forward.Cheers Warren

Warren,

For another serious plate material one can lay up and bag carbon fiber, my neighbor does it all the time for his airplane parts with a cheap Harbor Frieght Robinaire vacuum pump.  Even the urethane's could be strengthened easily with a carbon skin in this manner.  How about spinning graphite rotor, Tesla did claim it was the best conductor or radiant energy.

That is cool that you have a source of supply. Here in Ontario, Sculpture Supply provides a very large spectrum of interesting materials, among them the product lines of an American company called Smooth On The catalog, covers virtually everything one could need to make anything out of plastic or rubber, in any configuration, plus the materials to make molds. It was here I was able to buy iron powder, for instance, or copper powder, and a host of strange things hard to get otherwise. I cast up my own motor mounts for the 1935 Morris, and also a clear plastic headlight lens, identical to the one glass one I had, which is staying perfectly clear several years later. When you make up a perfect hero pattern, you can then make a silicone rubber mold and make urethane copies, out of a whole range of urethanes from clear rigid to skin soft, or like shoe soles , or tires. Keep it in the back of your mind for the future. Cheers Warren

EBay and Russian type eBay companies I can get, stuff but takes awhile to be delivered ...got a lot of Soviet litz wire from nearby ukraine..the urethane I get from hardware stores cut frim concrete float paddles that they use to smooth wet concrete.
