I have similar issues due to some creep rear ending me on the fwy.
Traffic was traveling about 70 and due to construction we did not know
around the next corner traffic was stopped as 4x8 sheets of plywood on
the concrete abutment due to hwy construction were blocking line of
sight around a right hand sweep curve. I was in an old Jag xj6 series
one with a chevy V8 conversion, one flatbed driver claimed it was the
heaviest car he had towed including trucks. I came within about one
foot of the stationary car in front of me when I braked hard. The car
behind me had just speed-ed up to pass someone and hit me, no brake
sound or evidence skidmarks, this was before cars besides German ones
had antilock brakes and his shitbox certainly did not. The impact was
transferred to me as the car did not have crumple zones, the thick steel
seat brackets broke and my neck got fucked up. The car from the outside
looked like barely much had happened just a dent on the left rear
messing up the trunk and left quarter panel, that thing had thick body
metal like 50's Detroit iron. His 30 grand of insurance, the California
minimum then did not go far towards medical.
I know all about the debilitating nature of this and feel for you. I
get the headaches and often my back is swollen and feels as if someone
has been slamming on it with a baseball bat. A dark room and Salonpas
menthol patches are about the best one can do for these headaches. If
one catches it in time and has some strong prescription painkiller
sometimes this will cut it to a dull throb through the day rather than
self isolated darkroom hell.
