NormanToo bad I didn't know you then.My scrap yard across the street was my source of pure nickel. For metal plating of most metals, they use nickel as the base, as it is the easiest to apply, and almost anything can plate on top of it.They hang the objects to be plated on pure nickel wire hangers, just cut off a roll, and twisted as you might any wire.In the course of plating in the tanks, this wire builds up to several inches sometimes, into amazing shapes much like coral undersea organic creatures.Of course I scooped up a bunch of these, being a special effects artist, and still have them. You might want to lurk around your friendly neighborhood metal platers, for some nickel. You know, the Hell's Angels, and their Harley's, half a block away from my old studio, were a boost to the very local community, when it came to metal plating. They sure liked shiny chrome on their bikes. My local metal plater was on the back alleyway from my studio. There were advantages to buying a place in the ratty lower East end of Toronto, near the waterfront, other than being close to where I built my boat on the dock. The entire film industry followed me there in later years, displacing the shoddy steel warehouses, and lead foundry, further down the street. Now it is all chi chi Starbucks, and bistrosI'm sure you live in a much better neighbourhood, but these places exist all over. I even found them in down town Manhattan, near the Village, when I worked there, in the 80'sSo buy your pure nickel from small time platers, as scrap. Tell them all about what you are doing, and they will likely be charmed by the story, and just give it to you.Forget the crooks. The biggest supporters of research are ordinary people just like you, and me, but, you have to share. I had my whole neighborhood supporting my research, from thrown out microwaves, and oil furnace transformers, to DC motors from tread mills, and any weird motors and stuff that they might think would help.I miss my contact with grass roots, in the city, as here in the country, people are more spread out, and need to drive, to meet each other.Cheers Warren

Once upon a time, back in the 80s there was the famous Cold Fusion Debate of which I was a part. There was a Cold Fusion Cell built that used pure nickel for the anode/cathodes., Called a Double Nickel Cell. It happened that Bert Pool & Leslie were going to Canada for a little vacation so Bert brought back Canadian quarters which BTW were pure nickel. I built the below cell to measure anomalous heat output which had been reported. I called it the Octa-Nickel Cell and by using pure nickel elements, it was a huge hydrogen producer. I used Potassium Carbonate for the electrolyte with a 5VDC power supply @ 10 amps to drive the cell and it did deliver the additional heat output over the input wattage as measured by the instrumented enclosure. I burned off the H-H-O produced with the little stainless nozzle shown and it would sublimate tungsten wire in the 10,000 degree pink/blue recombination burn. A true sign of atomic hydrogen. A real break through occurred when I took the experiment to a Vanguard Science Meeting to do a report on Cold Fusion. While transporting the cell some of my electrolyte was spilled, so I went to the rest room and got some Dallas tap water to top off the 100ml beaker. When placed into operation, the cell sat there and produced the atomic hydrogen /oxygen gas but the cell temperature was going down below the ambient starting temperature of 78 degrees at start. I was puzzled over how you could be putting in 50 watts of hard DC power and the cell temperature was going down. Demonstration ruined BUT, quite revealing since there was something unusual going on. I suspected that the nickel electrode cell was transmuting the chlorine contaminates in the Dallas tap water. Thus, I built the Elemental Replication Cell which was designed around 316L stainless steel anodes/cathodes cause I could not afford to buy sheet nickel stock. See : http://www.pennstainless.com/stainless-grades/300-series-stainless-steel/316l-stainless-steel/ The elemental Replication Phenomenon was verified by other researches in the Tesla Tech Group as reported at the annual meetings by Steve Elswick. Nickel has been shown to be a very powerful catalytic agent in the combustion of diesel/water mix as done by Caterpillar Corp and the auto Industry. See: http://www.rexresearch.com/gunnrman/gunnrman.htm Bosch Corp. designed ultra high voltage ignition system to burn water fuel combination which BTW had the nickel catalyst present.

I want to prepare some findings on "Catalysts" tomorrow. I need to pull up some interesting info for you all!
