Mick,Raul? Cuba?Interesting experiment going on there. Can a country exist after kicking out the American Mafia, then kicking out the Russian ones?Imagine, life without organized crime? How can that be possible?Las Vegas was a useless spot in the Nevada desert, until the Cuban revolution kicked the gambling casinos, and whore houses, out of Havana.How nice of America to make a little haven for those refugees in a little used stretch of desert that could only be used for testing atomic bombs otherwise.Still, the Cuban people have endured a generation of deprivation, cut off from the commercial World, as they have been, except for trade with a few sympathetic countries, for the little that they can produce.So some countries get cheap sugar and dental cavities, while Cuba only produces doctors, and education, on a starvation budget. Yet, those doctors are just terrific humanitarians, and get exported the World over to help people in third World countries, suffer less health problems, for in some cases, literally peanuts.It is a very brave, and ethical experiment, which the World could do well to observe, rather than impulsively squash out.Fortunately, Canadians have had the luxury of being able to visit as observers unlike people in the States.As good travellers anywhere, don't be quick to come to conclusions, just keep your eyes open, and your brain thinking.Cheers Warren
