Having several components makes it possible to have several modes of oscillations just like if a transformer in the grid drops its inductance and becomes ferroresonant. This may start ringing at several different frequencies. The drop in inductance can be a very fast phenomena and is like hitting the circuit with a hammer to make it ring. Waves returning from different parts of the circuit may cause the inductance to drop at different periods in time and thus sustain the ferroresonant oscillations. On the grid with power plants supplying the energy the transformer may explode when the current isn't interrupted or limited.

In the video there is a resistor between the generator (amplifier) and the ferroresonant circuit. This will limit the amount of power to a safe level. When a transformer is supplied directly from the grid and its impedance drops to only the Ohmic resistance of the winding (plus the inductance of the primary becoming like an air core) the current will become very great and make everything in the vicinity ring at their resonant frequencies. This must be avoided in a public grid as the destruction of equipment can be expensive.

This gives a more random signal even though the input signal is fixed. The high voltage peaks could destroy other circuits that were powered by the same input signal. This is why ferroresonance is avoided on the grid.
