 you should not have a load across the capacitor!!!
 I looked at the Wikipedia link, that rectangular box to the right side in those circuits represents a load...(if voltage meter that is OK then)
 

 The load will not only cause draw to go up in consequence and also it will prevent the capacitor from filling up as it should!
 

 Depends on what you want to do. suppress and extinquish the flyback energy or capture it into caps then release caps to load to do some work and create some power and watts...
 

 IIF you want to capture it, and have it do work, t MUST be a two-stage process, with the steering diode (or FWBR in the "ultimate" case as I described previous post) first filling the capacitor in the first stage, and with the capacitor all by itself and NO LOAD on capacitor.
 2nd stage is the capactitor is disconnected from the pulsed DC coil circuit, and the capacitor all by itself, all alone, discharges to load, this being the 2nd stage...
 

 IF you want to suppress and extinquish and "make safe" your circuit that is one thing, but if you want to CAPTURE all the flyback energy and put it to work without affecting draw at al, in fact making it less draw, l that is much better way to go.
