The AM is amplitude modulated FM is frequency shift modulated there is also sine-wave compound modulation able to mount gigahertz data into lower frequency signal (FCC hates that shit) and quadrature AM-FM digital or analog modulation , the paper in the link was relevant to the amount of energy received in the receiver converted to energy , its evident than in a system with 1600% modulation the information signals convey more power to the data conversion in the receiver than the carrier energy can induce ,.
Again i say the concepts of longitudinal waves are erred we are dealing with NODES and the method of application if you say longitudinal i say OK what polarity? and what orientation in respect to propagation as RF? is so in every aspect and there is a difference in phase shift in respect to voltage & current
that makes one wave RF and the same wave a POWER ( audio signal) a lot of fancy formulas but fall short of the truth and i do have posted a lot about that in fact I was the FIRST to post that, that the Hertz and Tesla bitch fight was pure ego and penis envy competition on who pissed the longest distance , i can demonstrate what i say in the lab any time and can applicate it in many forms one basic form is the RV in itself that uses POWER audio signal input ( utility power ) and RF conversion within itself , but if people don't read i cant do too much if they neither test the devices and follow erred publications they will be mislead into more error .
A lot of well documented bullshit is created with fancy formulations and expert supported concepts , but it is still pure bullshit in face of the real truth
and be it is ( Tesla and Hertz were full of shit ) .

What were the propagation effects of this experiment and what was the purpose?
People who follow Tesla's work have done this but I was referring to the general academics finally getting the concept of longitudinal waves after they poo poohed Tesla for so long claiming he was only dealing with Hertzian when he insisted he was transmitting electric sound waves.
