Roll an aluminium welding rod on each end, touch with crazy glue and those are your electrodes.I stick one out one side and the other out the opposite side. Lay down another sheet of poly on top of the foil. Using a thin foil core from the packaging, roll the assembly nice, and tightly, taping it with 3M magic mending tape. Slide it in a larger cardboard core and hot glue the ends leaving an aluminum sticking out either end. Measure the capacitance and mark it on the outside. Varnish the cardboard tube.They actually work very well, and are quite consistant.They come out quite large compared to commercial capacitors, but they handle high voltage pretty well, if not better.It is fun to be able to actually make a serious electronic component from scratch, using ordinary, easy to obtain materials.Card board concrete forms?Cheers Warren

The glass is just a dielectric that looses the electric field after being discharged although a small part of the field is recovered because of dielectric absorption. This could be felt on the old CRT screens after a spark discharge. Then by waiting a little while the voltage would partly recover and could make another spark when discharged once again.

Warren & Sven! Regarding capacitors (condenser) (LeydenJars) I had opportunity to talk to Ken Shoulders (RIP) at NewEnergy Conference, Denver back in 1995. I asked him what kind ofpower supply he used to charge his discharge caps to do thecharged cluster experiments. He said he charged the caps with anelectrostatic machine since what you are doing is potentialize theplates of the cap with HVDC to displace the electrons in thedielectric. The reason that Leyden Jars carry such a huge amountof power is in the thick (1/4 inch) crown glass (optic clearglass) that has a huge electron displacement. The moderncapacitors have very thin film dielectrics and the old technologyhas been lost. Most people (Most on here) do not know how acondenser (capacitor) really works. Take the three pailexperiments back in the old day! You have an outer pail(conductor) with a positive charge (+) a middle pail (dielectric,glass) and an inner pail (conductor) negative charge (-). Chargethe apparatus up with HV electrostatics. take it apart and youfind no charge on the components. put it back together and theoriginal charge is present! This proves that the HV potential isstored within the dielectric by electron displacement. this isvery old stuff done by Faraday way back when. If you have a verythick dielectric like a good Leyden Jar there is a lot of poweravailable here! I would make condensers of soda lime glass (waterclear with no metals) for my energy storage that you recover fromNeutral Spike experiments. These could be flat plate stacks withthin foil conductors and 1/8th inch thick glass. Do not worryabout the HV aspects since this is the break-over limits of yourcaps. Sure they will hold a 500KV charge (properly designed) butyou are working at 1500VDC.

I have now wired the 3 phase transformer to highestimpedance and am now at 1200V RMS and 1500V peak.
I will install very small coupling capacitors orconnect them in series for smaller capacities and thetransmission side with 2x 440V suppressor diodes inseries, short circuit so that the voltage can not goabove 1000V to protect the diode plug.
If the diode plug capacitors are larger, the voltageis smaller or I hope to be able to further reduce theeffects on the transverter (3-phase transformer).

The drawings are clearly but above all where acondenser, a light bulb sucks energy over the earthand it brings to light.
