Thank you Hector for the info with the transformer that proves that I have the right thoughts of course for the positive assessment of the circuit. The whole circuit is now cold, there are no more thermal problems. Greetings Sven

pulse transformers are the answer  ....  the same step up step down laws apply to them ..

by the way nice rig ! looks like a jewel and jewel quality something to be proud about!

Hi Warren, in your case you want to pull out of the capacitor phase energy to do anything.

When Coilbanger I can not change the current direction, the coil has the endeavor to maintain the current direction, it acts like a battery. Through the transformer I can change the direction of current and lead it back into the capacitor - that's the idea.

I have finished my new diode plug system now or finished last week. With the new components, everything can be set even more precisely and cleanly. I have now attached flywheel diodes with 75W bulbs to the anodes of the SCRs. So you can visually see the strength of the impedance or how much energy is transferred or not at high impedance shine brighter as at low impedance, it may be a bit of gimmick.

I have perfected the system, the question now is how do I use these short strong impulses now. With 400 to 500V pulses directly to the battery switch, because I have no good feeling.

I would like to build a universal buck converter, I still have a few components to build the rough and a HF core synonymous. Just take a look.

regards

Sven

It might not be the same situation, but with my RV, I did drive yet another RV identical to the first one, without a transformer.
It didn't prove anything, perhaps, except that the transformer in series with the capacitor circuit was not in all cases essential, with RV.
One RV had grease, and seals, the other had been cleaned, but they were identical 3 hp WEG 480 volts 3 phase.
Cheers Warren

I also think that you have to use a transformer to send the energy back in the right direction, preferably with higher voltage.

For the (H) coil bangers here:
I think a small choke winding series to diode across flash tube is needed for PIV protection, stopping nasty 6KV+ trigger pulse.
Diode keep lamp from ionizing too.

OR  fire lamp into auto-transformer, side-winding-diode recharges the lamp storage cap. and forget about diode across to lamp.
Easy to wind a pulse transformer and you rewind it until perfect.

A great new source for cheap HV non-polar hi freq. tough capacitors. Induction stove MKPH 5% type. 600v up to 1200, & up to 1 ufd
values. good up to 150khz and self healing too.
E-bay, write the seller for discount for 16 or so

ATTN: (H)
(Unless energy reverses on the banged coil back through the diode across lamp as (H) writes and it refills the cap or writes in foolproof hookup detail.)
