As for the experiment, tried with a 4007 then a fast HD diode and three
different coils in series with the xenon.  One pancake from a inductive
cooker, one I wound on a small piece of mumetal from an audio
transformer isolation shield and one a switching power supply transformer.

Did not notice a difference in or out except with one series coil
connected there was a slight change in tone from the strobe at a certain
speed with the diode connected vs not.

Got headache from strobe and stopped.
