Hi Kone,

There could be a problem by using a synchronous motor with a DC magnetized rotor. By locking the rotor it will be AC magnetized which generates eddy currents when not laminated. This again gives loss as heat which is a potential problem. For short runs to prove the principle it might work.

That would be solid state electronics like transistors. Power MOSFETs or perhaps IGBTs for higher voltages. For 30V power MOSFETs would be ideal.
