That is for snubber and switch off topology ...

The way you dump your energy is reducing your load resistance ....

You can discharge  into a LOW impedance and capture the resulting 
field collapse Pulse that will result in a discharged capacitor at  your duty cycle needs within  1/120th of a second  or  1/240

that is why i included the  (impedance) buck converter " dynamics into diode plug ones "  I know many will blow a brain fuse with that one but as long as at least one of you works with it is OK  .. and they are doing fine ......

snubbing is one thing , buck converting another ..

see the 4 methods ,(Last one is the coil shorting one ) that you applied to
konemotor coils in dynamic rotation magnetic induction .  an scr may be used for than but YOU need to Turn it off , there the other parallel scr switch 
turn off topology applies  !   making the circuit more complex and design demanding ( tuning )
