Now that I think about, since a common 2 pole genset rotor shares the core material at both pole-pieces, you have problem that you cannot magnetically isolate one pole winding and pole-piece from the other, so you will get that rotor core and coil to be N-S no matter what you do..
 

 however maybe you could connect one pole to be projecting N outward, and connect pther to also be projecting outward too and see what happens!
 

  Maybe it will cancel out the magnetism of the core and core will become weak maybe it will work and one pole piece is N outward and so is other....I don't know have not tried it!
 Maybe the core could be sawed in half lengthwise, have airgap or plastic or 310L steel to magnetically separate the two pole pieces so cores do not connect? This possible I guess...
