Hi Sven,

The placement of the thyristors is what I meant. The new inductor between the cathode of the top thyristor and the negative side of the top capacitor still makes the gate of the top thyristor float. This requires some kind of high side triggering device or some isolation between the thyristor and the capacitor as they have floating voltages between them. To avoid this floating voltage the cathode has to share a common reference point to the capacitor being measured for triggering.

The bottom thyristor shares the cathode to the bottom capacitor. This makes it much easier to make the triggering circuit. They always share the same point of reference. The gate voltage only has to be increased to around 0.7V above this point for triggering the thyristor.

 the saturation of the push pull trafo is the goal. By saturation I reach the max. magnetic alignment to reap some extra energy in the secondary coil. That's how I always understood Hector's remarks.
 
 I connected 2 transformers of the same type with a higher inductance to each diode plug, there was an overlap and the thyristors could not be switched. Well, if you now put a 3 Variac as adjustable impedance in the center tap is the change flows through so you could adjust the flooding. But it can also happen that then the capacitor is no longer discharged quickly enough?
