Hi Ole, g'day Yes have seen this beaut Telsa patent which is exactly the idea.

As we know energy can be temporarily stored and used a little later on.
Preferably at right time in the ac cycle.
As long as the storage method is efficient enough so losses don't exceed gains.

I have not been able source really fine steel wire down here for this approach and it takes many many turns to be effective.
Thinking some metglass tape layers might work well as relative permeability is so high but saturation point is high as well so not much thickness likely required.
Have to be careful not to form a closed loop tho as it's just a big short circuited turn then.

I also mounted a power transformer (toroidal) in a shortened jam tin with concentric steel sheet up through the centre then cut an opening around the top under the lid. I covered it in masking tape & painted it with a thick layer of magnetic paint.
Then wound a secondary on the outside of the tin similar to the "Gabriel Device" ..see on Youtube etc.

Overall it was a dismal fail for me as those sneaky flux lines seem to creep through everywhere.

I am used to failure, it's you guys here that inspire us with extra info etc, to keep at it.

 thanks Gerry
