Hi JamesYup I see it better now.I used 90 volt motors for charging my 12 volt 450 amp battery bank of 6 volt deep cycle batteries. No regulator was used.The stable braking action of the big battery bank was enough to keep the voltage from going crazy from a high speed propeller, yet in light winds still delivered a charge.I think a 12 volt motor would give poor performance.In a full harbour of 1000 boats such as in the lagoon, in St Martin's. Comparing output on the morning radio net, my home made rig was quietly turning one of the best amperage outputs of all the generators on an average both high and low wind strengths.I whittled the two blade props from a 5' long, pine , or clear cedar 2x4, using hand tools, and taught others how to do it too.I bought the motors by the 45 gallon drum at 10 bucks each from a Toronto scrap yard. They were from old main frame reel to reel memory drives used by banks and insurance companies.You could have those million dollar computers free, for taking them out of the installation, and trucking them away to the scrap yard during the Eighties Cheers Warren

The problem I had with it is the shaft was in mm and finding a pulley and bushing to fit it was a bear .

It looks pretty straight forward, with a speed up ratio.With all the dc motors I have, none looks like yours in that size. What voltage are you using? It kind of looks like a European pump motor my Solar Engineer friend Mike has.Cheers Warren
